Rumoured to be a "far away country of which we know very little" by the British Prime Minister Chamberlain, back in 1939 when he was appeasing the Nazis, actually it is an important country right in the centre of Europe. Not "Eastern Europe" as this really refers to the post-war era under the Soviet-dominated Warsaw Pact. It was of course Czechoslovakia back in 1939, but since 1993, when the countries split amicably, it now shares a southeastern border with Slovakia. It also shares borders with Poland, Germany and Austria.
